My Painting of Kyoto" Exhibition
Nine artists have drawn Kyoto, each with their own memories and images of the city.

I love collecting red seals, so I rode around Kyoto on my bicycle.
In the background is Toji Temple. I visited the temple in the morning in the dark, and by the time I finished, it was light outside.
And the maiko stopped to admire Kyoto's famous kyo candy and beauty.
I wanted to depict spring in full bloom, so I finished this colorful work with my thoughts on Kyoto.

There are times when you can't escape because your heart is strongly grasped at the moment. Plants and landscapes, time and events spent with someone. Kanae asks herself, "Why was my heart touched?" And solves that question by the act of "drawing."
In a prolonged self-restraint, I felt like I was in a bird cage looking at the garden from my atelier. A cramped but safe and secure space. I want to go out, I want to be free. But I'm afraid to come out. In this exhibition, "bird cages and gardens (outside world)" express such conflicting emotional conflicts.
The colors peeking through the innumerable lines carved by the scratch technique are as soft and transparent as the light shining through the stained glass. From the works that appeared through her eyes and heart, the feelings for the motif overflowed and strongly grabbed our hearts.
